The Black Veil

"Everything was going according to my plan. Thanks to my natural talent for strategy, my Goblins had managed to isolate every enemy fighter. Yet against all odds the Devourers managed to turn the situation around thanks to one of their strange female warriors.

Even when surrounded, this fury parried our blades and confused our sense with unsettling maneuvers. So much so that in the end her underhand attacks finished off several of my best fighters. To my great regret I was forced to order a strategic retreat..."

Azzoth the Treacherous, Memoirs of a Conqueror.

The minimum threshold for any Attack in Hand-to-Hand combat directed against an Eclipsante using the Black Veil is always equal to the Eclipsante's Defense rating, which is eventually modified by various bonuses or penalties, even if she has placed all her dice in Attack. This effect also applies in Rag'Narok and even fighters with the <Fencer> ability are subject to it.

Moreover, an Eclipsante using this technique may sacrifice one and only one combat die when she reveals the combat technique being used. Her Defense rating then increases by 2 points. These modifications last until the end of the round. If the Eclipsante makes a Pursuit Movement that makes her participate in a new combat, then her Defense rating remains increased. She still suffers the loss of a combat die.

The Black Veil is a secret martial technique reserved to Eclipsantes.
