The mage watched the pumpkin-headed pixie as he spelled out the incantations that had come to him in his sleep. Then the pumpkin-headed pixie disappeared, and the magician felt conflicted emotions flooding his mind. He heard children's laughter, both comforting and disturbing, and felt ready to succeed in anything, as if his insouciance protected him.
